The XIX World Congress of Criminology will be held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Doha, Qatar:

Doha, capital of the Gulf country Qatar, is a modern city on Doha Bay. Ringing its downtown waterfront are numerous parks and the Corniche Promenade. On a man-made island, the I.M. Pei–designed Museum of Islamic Art houses an extensive collection from across the Muslim world. At Souq Waqif, a traditional market, vendors offer goods like clothing, crafts and spices and there are several reasonably priced restaurants.

Doha is generally considered a safe city. However it is important to respect the local culture to avoid conflict and attracting unwanted negative attention: honor the dress code, keep shoulders and knees covered, no public displays of affection, behave in a respectable manner. Swimwear considered normal elsewhere is best worn only while at international hotels pools.

Qatar has greatly liberalized entry into the country for citizens of most countries in every continent. Citizens of 80 countries do not need a prior visa to enter Qatar and stay for up to 30 days (47 countries) or even up to 90 days (33 mostly European countries). This visa policy will facilitate a true international participation. China, India, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, Japan, South Africa, Australia, Turkey, several Latin American, Asian and African countries and all European countries are included in the prior visa free policy.

Make sure to check with the Qatar Embassy or consulate in your country to verify if you need a prior visa or not before traveling to Doha. Also make sure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months from the date of your departure from Doha.
